What does life look like on Fridays?

We are a big group of parents and kids, PreK to 12th grade with around 200 kids, (half in the elementary group an half in the older group)!!! WOOHOO!!

We meet on Fridays starting in October and finishing in May with breaks, field-trips, and activity days in-between.

Our normal class days look like this:

All Students:

Announcements 9:00 - 9:30
Class #1 9:30 - 10:30
Recess/Break 10:30 - 11:00
Class #2 11:00 - 12:00

Lunch Break and Done for the Day

Musical Theater Class Only: 1:00 - 4:00

The younger group is sectioned in to Kindergarten to 5th grade, then they are broken up in to grade groups for classes. They do not get to choose what class they attend.

Our older group is 6th-12th grade, all mixed together. They have several class options to choose from for each class hour.

We have fall, winter, & spring terms. Each term is broken in to 6 normal class weeks, not necessarily 6 weeks in a row.

Our families do various types of homeschooling Monday-Thursday and we meet for supplemental classes and a ton of fun. Our classes are all taught by the parents, with the exception of a couple art/drama classes taught by professionals for an added fee.

As parents we are required to fulfill a minimum of 14 serving “slots”, those can be filled in many different ways. We teach classes, assist teachers, clean up after a cooking class, lead preschool, supervise recess, lead a field trip, plan an activity for Grandparents’ Day, clean up after an event, help decorate for events, make the yearbook, clean bathrooms, etc.

Since we are purely supplemental, Navigators doesn’t promote or teach which curriculum to use. However, since we are all doing our own thing there are plenty of parents willing to share their knowledge and experience.

Navigators is full for the 2023 - 2024 school year.  If you would like to apply for the 2024 - 2025 school year, go here to send in an application.
